Our Membership Profile
As of January 2010,
Pet Industry Retailers has more than 550 members from around the world. Although
the vast majority of PIR retailers are from the USA, we also have members in
a number of Asian and European countries. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and specialties within
the pet industry,
including traditional pet stores, grooming salons, high end pet boutiques,
self serve dog washes, pet bakeries, doggy day care and more. Most PIR
members are brick and mortar stores with a web presence, but some are online
only. This diversity in membership brings a vast knowledge base to the
group. A number of award-winning retailers and industry leaders are
members of our online networking group.
In fact,
5 out of the 12 store owners
who received Retailer of the Year excellence awards for 2010 by Pet Product
News International magazine are PIR members.
Criteria to become a PIR Member
You must provide your business
name, physical shop address, website address and a valid e-mail address in your
membership application in order to be considered for PIR membership. Retail business
owners and their managing partners may join PIR but, unfortunately, we do
not currently accept store employees at this time. The PIR board moderator reserves
the right to accept, deny or remove members at any time, at moderator's
discretion. Members are solely responsible for the accuracy and content of
their PIR Yahoo group message board posts. No direct sales pitches or e-mail farming/spamming
is allowed via the online group. The
only requirements to remaining a member of PIR are 1) professional conduct, and
2) a
working email address. New members, please introduce yourself and tell
us about your business once you become familiar with the Yahoo group message
